Texas State Representative Brian Harrison has recently expressed criticism of Texas A&M University leadership and the broader direction of Texas government in a series of posts on his social media account.
On July 18, 2025, Harrison stated, “Correct. I’ve been calling for new leadership at Texas A&M for a long time. (Think I’m the only elected official who has been demanding that.) BIGGER QUESTION: why in the world are progressive leftists running anything in the Texas government??” In this post, he questioned both the current university administration and what he perceives as left-leaning influences within state governance.
Later that day, Harrison continued his critique by posting, “The Texas government is controlled by big government Democrats… and big government Republicans. I want LESS GOVERNMENT. And MORE LIBERTY.” This statement underscores his advocacy for limited government and increased individual freedoms.
In a subsequent post referencing Texas A&M University’s official account, Harrison wrote, “Cc: @TAMU” on July 18, 2025.
Harrison serves as a state representative in Texas and has previously voiced concerns regarding higher education governance and political dynamics within the state legislature. His comments come amid ongoing debates about university leadership appointments and ideological representation in public institutions across Texas.
