State Representative Brian Harrison, a Republican representing Texas’s 10th House district, used his social media platform on September 4, 2025, to voice concerns about state policy and legislative action. Harrison posted a series of messages addressing issues such as standardized testing in schools and property taxes.
In a post referencing the Washington Examiner, Harrison stated his opposition to Senate Bill 8 despite supporting the elimination of the STAAR Test. On September 4, he wrote: “From @dcexaminer: State Rep. Brian Harrison, R-Midlothian, voted against SB 8 despite his support for eliminating the STAAR Test. Instead of replacing the STAAR Test with three tests, he said, ‘it must be replaced with something that is better than STAAR, not with something that'”.
Later that day, Harrison called on Governor Greg Abbott to convene another special session to address several policy priorities. In his post from September 4 at 13:40 UTC, he wrote: “I am asking Governor @GregAbbott_TX to immediately call another special session to address the following:
– Eliminate property taxes
– Stop taxpayer funding of DEI, LGBTQ indoctrination, and liberal Hollywood
– Ban taxpayer funded lobbying
– End corporate welfare
– Cut”.
Harrison also criticized state government efforts regarding property tax reform. In a subsequent message on September 4 at 15:25 UTC, he stated: “The Texas government FAILED in three sessions… and did nothing to end crushing property taxes.
I joined @ktrhnews to expose the truth about the corrupt Austin uniparty… and demand the legislature be immediately brought back before more Texans are taxed out of their homes!”.
Harrison was elected to represent Texas’s 10th House district in 2021 after Jake Ellzey vacated the seat. Since taking office, he has been vocal about education reform and fiscal policies within the state legislature.
