Brian Harrison, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 10th district since 2021, has voiced criticism regarding recent events in the Texas legislature through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On August 4, 2025, Harrison addressed the ongoing issue of Democratic lawmakers breaking quorum in the state legislature. In his first post, he stated: “Do not be angry at the Democrats who are breaking quorum… be angry at the ‘Republicans’ who chose not to stop them.” This message reflects his frustration with members of his own party whom he believes did not do enough to prevent the disruption.
Shortly after, Harrison commented on committee appointments within the legislature. He wrote: “This Democrat is who Speaker Burrows made Co-Chair of the… wait for it… REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE. No… this is not a joke…” The statement highlights his disapproval of a Democrat being named co-chair of an influential legislative committee by Speaker Burrows.
Later that evening, Harrison announced a media appearance related to these developments. He posted: “Joining @KXAN_News at 9:00pm to discuss the Democrat quorum break… which was 100% preventable….another failure of Austin Republican ‘leadership.’ Tune in!”
Harrison was elected to represent Texas’s 10th House district in 2021 after Jake Ellzey vacated the seat. His recent statements come amid heightened tensions over legislative procedure and leadership decisions within both parties in Austin.
