Brian Harrison, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 10th district since 2021, criticized House leadership in a series of posts on August 4, 2025. Harrison’s comments centered on actions taken by legislative leaders following a walkout by Democratic members that left the chamber without a quorum.
In his first post at 19:09 UTC, Harrison wrote, “Don’t fall for ‘bold TALK’ of House ‘leadership’s’ Call of the House today… AFTER the Dems have already fled. Leadership should’ve done that when we had a quorum… and BEFORE the Ds left… Instead Speaker Burrows adjourned to let them flee! We don’t need talk. Need ACTION!”
Minutes later at 19:13 UTC, he continued his criticism: “Should’ve been done when it mattered… yesterday… or last Wednesday… Instead the Ds were ALLOWED to flee by Texas Republicans.”
Later that evening at 20:02 UTC, Harrison posted an update on the situation with a brief statement: “BREAKING: NO QUORUM.”
Harrison has represented Texas’s 10th House district since winning election in 2021 after Jake Ellzey vacated the seat. The lack of quorum in state legislatures can halt proceedings and is often used as a tactic during contentious debates or legislative standoffs.
