Brian Harrison, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 10th district since 2021, posted a series of critical remarks on social media regarding recent legislative priorities in Texas. In his posts dated September 3 and 4, 2025, Harrison questioned the focus of state lawmakers on hemp-related legislation over property tax relief.
On September 3, Harrison wrote: “How do we convince the Texas Senate that property taxes come from hemp?? “
Later that evening, he commented on legislative developments with another post: “We’re not lowering your property taxes… but let not your heart be worried… we just created ‘Texas Dance Day.’ https://t.co/Y0EmacIEF9”
In a third message early on September 4, Harrison observed ongoing activity at the Capitol: “Happening now: The Texas government leadership is working harder to pass a hemp bill tonight… than on any bill to lower your property taxes.”
Harrison has represented Texas’s 10th House district since winning election in 2021 after Jake Ellzey vacated the seat. His recent comments reflect broader debates within state government about prioritizing fiscal policy issues such as property tax reform versus other legislative measures.
