Brian Harrison, a Republican elected to the Texas State House in 2021 to represent the state’s 10th House district, criticized the actions of Governor Greg Abbott and university regents regarding public higher education in a series of posts on September 30, 2025.
In his first post, Harrison referenced what he believed Governor Abbott should have said years ago: “The speech that @GregAbbott_TX should’ve given to his Regents running Texas’s public universities a decade ago.” (September 30, 2025).
He followed up with another message linking to further content: “Instead: https://t.co/YpqIu0wPvB” (September 30, 2025).
Later that day, Harrison directly addressed taxpayers and expressed concern over university spending: “Texas taxpayers: this is how @GregAbbott_TX’s Regents at @UTAustin are spending YOUR MONEY! Even if you’re one of the 4+ million who have already looked at these photos… look again. The Texas government is one of the biggest funders of TRANSGENDER INDOCTRINATION in America https://t.co/YpqIu0wPvB” (September 30, 2025).
Harrison’s statements reflect ongoing debates about governance and funding priorities within Texas’ public universities. He has been an active figure in state politics since succeeding Jake Ellzey as representative for Texas’ 10th House district.
