Texas State Representative Brian Harrison announced the filing of three new bills via a series of posts on July 14, 2025. The proposed legislation addresses issues related to taxpayer protections and bond election transparency.
In a post published on July 14, 2025, Harrison stated: “Proud to file HB49 to protect taxpayers by ending the conflict of interest when people who fund bond campaigns turn around and profit off them! I’m sick of people getting rich off of tax hikes!”
On the same day, Harrison shared another update regarding ballot language requirements: “Proud to file HB48 to require the ‘This is a Property Tax Increase’ language on the ballot to be BOLDED… and in SIZE 42 FONT! People have complained that the ballot language is confusing… this should fix that! “
Harrison also addressed liability concerns for Texans regarding bond projects: “Proud to file HB51 to stop forcing Texans to be liable for bond projects in jurisdictions they do not even live in!”
These legislative efforts reflect ongoing debates in Texas over property taxes, election transparency, and taxpayer responsibility. Bond elections often determine funding for public projects through increased local taxes, making clear communication and fair practices critical issues for many residents.
