Cost of education increases for all Nelson University students in 2022-23 school year

Nelson University reported a 2.2% tuition increase for the 2022-23 school year, based on the latest available information, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

Students enrolled at the four-year private nonprofit institution paid $17,782 this year, which is $378 higher than the $17,404 charged during the 2021-22 academic year.

Approximately 66% of the undergraduate student body at Nelson University are residents of Texas, while around 33% come from other states.

Data indicates that 98% of full-time undergraduates who began their studies at Nelson University in 2022-23 received some form of student financial aid. A total of 284 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $3.7 million, and 208 students took out loans exceeding $1.4 million.

Across all undergraduate students, 1,298 received grants or scholarships totaling $15.1 million. Additionally, 950 students obtained federal student loans totaling $6 million.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
