David Cook, a Republican representing Texas’s 96th House district, addressed ongoing legislative issues and infrastructure projects in a series of tweets on August 5, 2025.
In his first post of the day, Cook commented on the absence of a quorum in the Texas House. He wrote, “We still don’t have a quorum in the Texas House!!! While the Dems continue playing politics, my @TXGOPCaucus colleagues and I are here doing our JOBS: fighting for flood victims, lower property taxes, & more. Texans deserve better!!! #NoShowNoSeat #txlege” (August 5, 2025).
Later that evening, Cook highlighted an infrastructure initiative impacting his district. In another tweet he stated, “️ Community Spotlight ️ The Southeast Connector is more than a road project. It’s a Major Investment in the future of Senate District 22. I’m proud to support this historic @TxDOT effort alongside the @CityOfArlington and the @CityofMansfield as we transform how Texans move,” (August 5, 2025).
In his final post of the day regarding legislative attendance issues, Cook thanked Governor Greg Abbott for addressing lawmakers who were absent from their duties. He tweeted: “Thank You Governor @GregAbbott_TX for showing the quorum busting Dem’s that life is full of choices … and there are consequences when you don’t show up for work!!! #NoShowNoSeat #txlege” (August 5, 2025).
Cook was elected to represent Texas’s 96th House district in 2021 after succeeding Bill Zedler.
