David Cook, a candidate for Texas Senate District 22, announced endorsements and legislative priorities in a series of tweets posted on July 22 and 23, 2025.
On July 22, Cook shared news of an endorsement from the state’s lieutenant governor: “I’m honored and grateful to have the complete endorsement of Lt. Governor @DanPatrick in my campaign for Senate District 22. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing Conservative Priorities across Texas, and I look forward to working alongside him to keep Texas strong,” he wrote.
Later that day, Cook addressed the ongoing special session at the Texas Legislature: “This special session is about protecting Texans, improving emergency response, and defending our values. We’ve got important work ahead. #txlege To read the full list of priorities, click here: https://t.co/zXiSL5bcv8”. The post emphasized public safety and emergency preparedness as key issues under consideration during the session.
On July 23, Cook highlighted another endorsement from local government: “I’m proud to have the full support of @MannyRamirez_TX in my race for Senate District 22. As a former law enforcement officer and current Tarrant County Commissioner & Chairman of @TexasJJD, he knows what real leadership looks like. As Chairman of the House Juvenile Justice”.
Endorsements from high-profile figures such as Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick can play a significant role in state-level campaigns by signaling alignment with party leadership and policy priorities. Manny Ramirez serves as Tarrant County Commissioner and chairs the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD), bringing experience from both law enforcement and juvenile justice administration to his support for Cook.
The Texas Legislature periodically convenes special sessions called by the governor to address urgent or unresolved matters; these sessions often focus on topics like public safety or disaster response when deemed necessary by state leaders.
