David Cook, a Republican member of the Texas State House representing the 96th district since 2021, recently shared several updates on his official Twitter account regarding key political figures and state issues.

On May 27, 2026, Cook congratulated Mayes Middleton and Macy S. Middleton while also acknowledging Rep. Chip Roy’s service to Texas. He wrote, “Congrats and Thank you both @mayes_middleton and @MacySMiddleton !!! Mayes, thanks for stepping up and meeting the challenge to be our next Texas AG! Also, Thanks to @RepChipRoy for your service to the great State of Texas!”.

Later that day, Cook highlighted his participation in an energy policy discussion aimed at bolstering Texas’ electric grid. He stated, “Today, I joined Energy Leaders for a discussion on strengthening Texas’ electric grid and ensuring reliable, dispatchable power to support our state’s continued growth. On May 28, 2026, Cook congratulated Senator Brian Birdwell on his new federal appointment. His message read, “Congratulations @SenatorBirdwell on being sworn in as Assistant Secretary of @DeptofWar for Sustainment! SD-22 is grateful for your lifetime of service, from the U.S. Army to our State Senator, and we wish you and Mel the very best in this new chapter. Texas and our nation are”.

Cook was elected to represent District 96 in the Texas House of Representatives in 2021 after succeeding Bill Zedler.
