Ellis County had one gas station selling diesel gas at the lowest price of $4.59 per gallon during the week ending May 16, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.
The average reported price of diesel gas across the county was $5.10 per gallon.
GasBuddy reports show that diesel gas was available at 61 of the 108 reported gas stations in Ellis County.
The average reported price for a gallon of diesel gas in Texas was $5.01, down from the previous week.
Fuel prices climbed sharply in spring 2026 as tensions in the Middle East disrupted global oil shipments and refinery outages tightened gasoline supplies in parts of the United States. AAA said the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline rose above $4 in early April for the first time since August 2022, reaching $4.08 per gallon on April 2 and $4.16 one week later as crude oil prices remained elevated. Analysts monitoring the energy market have pointed to refinery utilization rates, U.S. crude oil inventories, OPEC+ production policies and seasonal driving demand as factors influencing fuel costs in 2026, particularly during periods of refinery outages or shipping disruptions affecting global oil supplies.
