Congressman Jake Ellzey of Texas has expressed his support for the Fiscal Year 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. Following his affirmative vote on the bill, Ellzey issued a statement highlighting the importance of this legislation for veterans and military families.
“This bill keeps faith with our veterans and military families. It fully funds veterans’ health care, invests in military housing, and strengthens the infrastructure our servicemembers rely on,” said Congressman Ellzey. “It also ensures taxpayer dollars are focused where they belong, supporting those who served.”
The FY26 MilCon-VA bill allocates a total of $453 billion in funding. Of this amount, $131.4 billion is designated for veterans’ medical care while $2 billion is aimed at improving Military Family Housing. The bill also includes over $1.2 billion for upgrading Guard and Reserve facilities. Certain expenditures are prohibited under this legislation; these include taxpayer funding for DEI programs, gender surgeries at the VA, and medical care for illegal aliens. Additionally, it blocks the purchase of resources from China by the VA and aims to protect veterans’ Second Amendment rights.
“Our job is simple—putting our servicemembers and veterans first,” Ellzey stated.
