During the first quarter of 2026, Ridgeview Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing ranked as the third largest nursing home in Johnson County, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported.

The facility offered 134 beds—eight above the county average for that period—and hosted an average of 99.6 residents daily.

CMS awarded Ridgeview Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing an overall rating of 4 out of 5, exceeding the Texas nursing home average of 2.7.

In that quarter, Park Bend Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center was Johnson County’s largest nursing home with 178 beds, while Colonial Manor Nursing Center was second with 137 beds.

Ridgeview Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing reported zero incidents, fines or penalties as of the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Overall, Johnson County, Texas, recorded two public nursing homes.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the nation’s older adult population continues to rise, while younger age groups shrink. From 2020 to 2024, Americans ages 65 and older increased by 13%, while those under 18 dropped by 1.7%. The U.S. older adult sector has experienced significant growth over the past 100 years, surging from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A study from 2021 found nearly half of this demographic, or approximately 28 million people, might need long-term services and supports, with projections indicating more than a third could eventually require nursing home services.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
