City of Plano issued the following announcement on July 29.
A test conducted of a pool of mosquitoes in a City trap has come back positive for the West Nile virus. Weather permitting, Plano Environmental Quality Division crews will spray tomorrow night, Friday, July 31 beginning at 9 P.M. The targeted spray area is bordered by the following streets:
▪️North – Kirkwall St.
▪️South – W. Plano Pkwy. / Tradition Trl.
▪️East – Coit Rd.
▪️West – Fulgham Rd.
Spray area map is attached. Residents are urged to ensure children and pets are indoors during the time of spraying.
At this time, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has no data to suggest that this new coronavirus or other similar coronaviruses are spread by mosquitoes or ticks. The main way that COVID-19 spreads is from person to person.
