Texas Mutual has partnered with Volunteer Firemen’s Insurance Services of Texas to award $500,000 to EMS organizations.
According to Texas Mutual, two grant programs have been launched. One is allocating $200,000 to provide financial relief to EMS organizations that have been adversely affected by COVID-19, and $300,000 will be used to support these organizations by investing in their team’s health and wellness.
Grant applications for a separate financial relief grant program ($2,500 per organization) was launched on Aug. 10, and due to overwhelming demand, was closed within two hours of opening. This new grant program was designed to help in the financial recovery of struggling EMS organizations. Many EMS organizations face funding shortfalls because the pandemic has affected their ability to conduct traditional fundraisers. These grants are not restricted any specific use other than to provide vital funding to organizations.
Applications for the grants will be open from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31 and grants will be awarded in the first quarter of 2021.
