The Dallas County Community Colleges are one of five Texas community college systems to receive $25,000 for student emergency aid from The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Texas Higher Education Foundation
Tarrant County College, El Paso Community College, Dallas Colleges, Alamo Colleges and Houston Community College will each receive $25,000 to help students who have faced hardships due to COVID-19, according to a news release.
“I am grateful to The Kresge Foundation for working with us to provide much-needed assistance that enables several of our state’s largest community colleges to provide financial relief to students impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and to help them stay on track to earning their credentials,” Texas Higher Education Commissioner Harrison Keller said. “This is significant because, looking ahead, we know our Texas graduates and higher education institutions will play critical roles in accelerating the recovery of the Texas economy.”
The grants come as part of the Texas Emergency Aid Grant Program, which complements the federal funds that were provided through the CARES Act.
