The TCU equestrian team advanced to the Big 12 Championship after defeating second-seeded Fresno State, 13-7, on March 27 at the Pedigo-Hull Equestrian Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
This win marks the sixth consecutive season that TCU will compete for a conference title. The Horned Frogs took three of four events during the meet and built an early lead by winning Horsemanship and Fences before clinching victory in Reining.
In Horsemanship, Tatum Keller, Sydney Feager, Calla Thomas, and Peyton Staat each contributed points for TCU. Staat posted an event-high score of 76. The Jumping Seat event saw Maggie Dumrauf, Lilly Goldstein, Lily Muzzy, and Lex Lipacis secure points in Fences as TCU led 8-2 at halftime. Afterward, Thomas, Cassie Hacking, and Kaylene Cunningham helped extend the lead with wins in Reining.
Fresno State narrowed the margin slightly during Flat competition but could not close the gap. Lex Lipacis and Madi Lo Porto earned points for TCU as the final score was set at 13-7.
With this result, TCU now leads Fresno State in their all-time series by a record of 24-12 and holds a perfect record against them—5-0—in Big 12 Championship play. Individual highlights included career-best performances from Lex Lipacis (87.66 in Fences) and Peyton Staat (76 in Horsemanship), while Madi Lo Porto extended her win streak on Flat to three meets and Cassie Hacking stretched her Reining streak to six wins.
TCU is scheduled to face top-seeded Oklahoma State on Saturday at 10 a.m., where they will seek their first-ever Big 12 Title.
