Garland Police Department issued the following announcement on June 24.
The Garland Police Department is working hard to keep our city safe from celebratory gunfire and illegal fireworks. In addition to having extra officers patrolling the streets during the Independence Holiday weekend, yard signs have been designed that highlight the penalties of illegally shooting a gun and using fireworks.
As a community, we need to work together to bring awareness of both the penalties and dangers of shooting guns into the air and discharging fireworks.
The signs are available to any Garland residents who wish to place one in their yard. They can be picked up at the Front Desk of the Garland Police Department located at 1891 Forest Lane, every day from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, excluding city holidays. (One per household)
We are looking forward to a safe Independence Day celebration!
Please celebrate responsibly and be a good neighbor.
