2019 report shows increase in elderly, minority populations in Tarrant County

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released its 2019 population breakdown for Tarrant County.

The report classifies residents by age, sex, race and other factors. According to the report, the population of Tarrant County is mostly populated with older people who are minorities. From the years of 2010 to 2019, the county’s population blossomed from 1.81 million to 2.10 million.

The report states that the number of residents age 65 and older increased from 162,875 residents to 244,511 residents. Moreover, residents who are 65 or older make up 11.6% of the county’s total population.

A similar increase in elderly residents was seen in Denton County, Dallas County and Collin County. T

Additionally, the report finds that non-Hispanic white residents in Tarrant County have dramatically decreased from 51.8% of the county's population in 2010 to 45.3% in 2019.
