CITY OF DALLAS: Deck the Plaza Returns As Drive-Thru Celebration

Chrsmas

City of Dallas issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

The Dallas favorite holiday tradition, Deck the Plaza, will return for 2020 with a twist. Dallasites and visitors are invited to join the City of Dallas for a contactless, holiday drive-thru featuring a celebration of lights at City Hall Plaza from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21.

The caravan begins by entering City Hall Plaza on Marilla Street. Drivers will trek through City Hall Plaza and experience holiday entertainment, a festival of lights, and the grand finale – a 35-foot holiday tree. The City of Dallas-owned radio station, Classical 101.1 WRR-FM, will return to participate in the celebration for 2020. Drivers can tune in to the radio station during the drive-thru and enjoy holiday music and messages from Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and City Council Members.

This year has been difficult for many, so the City of Dallas is finding ways to spread holiday cheer in a safe way. Therefore, this will be a completely contactless drive-thru event with no giveaways to slow the spread of COVID-19. Public health protocols will be strictly enforced. Walk-ups will not be allowed and all attendees must stay in their vehicles at all times.
