The city honored two outstanding employees for the Employee of the Fourth Quarter.

Stephanie Beard was nominated and selected for her efforts to locate and reunite a homeless person with family across the country, as well as seeing to their basic needs until the family arrived.

“Stephanie takes extra measures for countless citizens within our community during times of crisis,” states her nomination form.

"We are extremely grateful to Stephanie for doing everything within her power to provide safety, comfort and dignity to my sister," stated the individual's brother, who had 20 years in law enforcement.

Stephanie is a Victims Assistance Coordinator who started with the City of Burleson in July 2018.

Brennan Jones was nominated and selected for going above and beyond in his work as an Animal Control Officer with the Burleson Animal Shelter.

“Brennan's passion for his Paws with a Cause program brings joy to assisted living resident's lives,” states his nomination form. "He takes Clyde the dog for weekly visits and two residents who have been non-verbal recently started speaking about Brennan and Clyde."

Brennan went above and beyond by taking care of a deceased pet because he did not want the pet's owner to see their pet in that condition. Additionally, he rescued abandoned kittens after-hours following a citizen's calls to multiple other locations without receiving help.

Brennan started with the City of Burleson in July 2017.

They were honored during the December 12, 2022, City Council meeting. While it is not typical to have two selections for employee of the quarter, the committee felt both individuals should be recognized for the impactful contributions each have made. The city's employee of the quarter award is based on an employee's efficiency, transparency, honesty, innovation and customer service, all of which make up the city's ethics statement.
